They were no less than star heroes. Both had strong fan bases, unique styles and the ability to make audiences notice them even when they were not playing the typical hero roles.
However, over the years, their presence in mainstream cinema became less frequent. Now, interestingly, Tollywood is once again giving these senior actors an opportunity to remind audiences of their strength.
Mohan Babu has already proved this point with Nani’s The Paradise. The film has been released, and Mohan Babu’s performance has received attention from audiences. His screen presence once again reminded everyone of the powerful actor he has always been.
This is important because senior actors like Mohan Babu have a huge legacy in Telugu cinema. Seeing him in a strong role in a new-generation film shows that talented senior actors can still make a major impact when they get the right characters.
Now, Rajasekhar appears to be getting a similar opportunity. Rajasekhar recently made an impression with Biker where his performance received good appreciation. Now, there is talk that the senior actor has been approached for the main villain role in Balakrishna’s upcoming film directed by Koratala Siva.
According to the buzz, Balakrishna is expected to play a double role in the movie. If Rajasekhar officially joins the project as the main antagonist, the Balakrishna-Rajasekhar face-off could become one of the biggest attractions of the film.
This combination is interesting for another reason. Both Balakrishna and Rajasekhar belong to the generation of actors who created a strong identity for themselves through powerful performances. Watching them together on the big screen could bring back the flavour of old-school Telugu cinema.
Mohan Babu has already shown through The Paradise that a senior star can still create an impact when given a powerful character. Now, Rajasekhar has a similar opportunity with Balakrishna’s film.
So, this is not simply about two senior actors appearing in new movies. It could be about Tollywood bringing back its legacy stars and giving them characters that match their talent.
If Rajasekhar grabs this opportunity and delivers a memorable performance, he too could prove that age and a gap from mainstream cinema cannot take away an actor’s screen power.
