Police File Case Against Sonu Nigam: Details Inside
This time, it’s not about music, but a police case over something he said on stage.
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 May 2025 11:55 AM ISTSonu Nigam, who has sung many Telugu hits like Aakasam Sakshiga and Raave Naa Chaliyaa, is in the middle of a controversy. This time, it’s not about music, but a police case over something he said on stage.
On May 5, Bengaluru cops issued a notice to Sonu, asking him to appear for questioning. Two days before that, a complaint had been filed at Avalahalli police station, accusing him of insulting Kannadigas during a live event. The FIR mentions Section 352, usually linked to threats or provocation. The event organisers were also sent notices.
The Kannada film industry didn’t stay silent either. The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce announced it’s cutting all ties with Sonu Nigam. They say he hasn’t responded to calls since the issue began. They also made it clear: no apology, no future work.
The whole issue started at an April 25 concert. When the crowd asked him to sing in Kannada, he got irritated and reportedly made a sarcastic comment referring to a past show in Pahalgam. That moment has now turned into something much bigger.
