In a recent social media spat, Divya Khossla Kumar has openly criticized Alia Bhatt, accusing her of rigging the box office figures for her film Jigra. The allegations come after Jigra, which released on October 11, struggled at the box office, earning just ₹4.25 crore on its opening day, primarily from the Hindi version, while its Telugu-dubbed version barely managed ₹5 lakh.

Divya took to Instagram to voice her concerns, sharing a photo of an empty theater and expressing her disbelief at the situation. She wrote, “Went to Citi Mall PVR for Jigra show. Theatre was totally empty... all theaters going empty everywhere.” She further claimed that Alia had purchased tickets to inflate the collection figures, stating, “#Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai.. khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye." Divya questioned why the media remained silent about this situation, using hashtags like #truthoverlies and #weshdnotfooltheaudience.

The tension between the two actresses appears to be escalating. Divya’s remarks seem to have been triggered by similarities between Jigra and her own film, Savi, which tells the story of a housewife trying to rescue her husband from prison. In Jigra, Alia's character attempts a jailbreak to save her brother from an East Asian prison.

Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala, tells an emotional story about sibling bonds, featuring Alia as Satya and Vedang Raina as her brother Ankur, who is on death row for questionable drug charges. The film is co-produced by Alia's own production company, Eternal Sunshine Productions, and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.

Following Divya's post, Karan Johar, who has a close association with Alia, responded cryptically on Instagram, hinting at his disapproval of Divya's comments by stating, “Silence is the best speech you will ever give to fools.” Divya retorted with her own quote, asserting that the truth often offends those who oppose it.
