As per the latest reports, The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on April 4, 2025, at the offices of Gokulam Gopalan, producer of the Malayalam film L2: Empuraan. The searches took place at his chit fund offices in Kerala and Chennai’s Kodambakkam. While the reason for the raids hasn’t been officially revealed, their timing has sparked speculation about political motivations.
The film had earlier attracted criticism from BJP leaders and right-wing groups over its content, leading to edits and the removal of a “special thanks” credit to BJP MP Suresh Gopi. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman dismissed claims linking ED raids to political donations.
