A Certificate vs Content: Which Is Important?

Movie audiences have changed a lot over the years. In the past, the certificate given to a film was an important factor for many viewers. Films with a U or U/A certificate were considered more suitable for families. At the same time, there was also a period when audiences showed more interest in films simply because they had bold content.

But things are different now. Today, viewers are mainly looking for good content. If a movie has an interesting story, strong emotions and good entertainment, the certificate may not stop audiences from watching it. Recent film trends have shown that viewers are ready to support movies when they feel that the content is worth their time and money.

This discussion has now become important for Epic, starring Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya. The duo earlier worked together in Baby, which became a major success. Their combination attracted a strong youth following.

Epic is said to be a mature romantic entertainer set in London. The movie is directed by Aditya Hasan. Unlike their previous film, this one is expected to present the pair in a different kind of love story.

The biggest challenge for Epic is its A certificate from the censor board. Since the movie is mainly targeting young audiences, the certification could create some restrictions. However, an A certificate does not always mean a film will fail at the box office.

There are several examples of A-rated films becoming successful when the content connected with the audience. Arjun Reddy is one such example. The film received an A certificate but became a turning point in the careers of Vijay Deverakonda and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

Interestingly, Baby also had intimate and bold scenes but received a U/A certificate and became a huge success.

Now, Epic has a different challenge. The question is whether the movie can make audiences forget about its certificate and focus on its story and entertainment.

The film is scheduled to release on September 11. If the content works well, the A certificate may not become a major problem. For today's audience, content appears to matter more than the certificate.
