Today, AI and ChatGPT are becoming a big trend in the film industry. From writing dialogues to creating storylines, technology is entering cinema in new ways.
Recently, a producer came up with a unique idea as he asked ChatGPT to write a story for his film. Surprisingly, the AI created a complete story from beginning to end within minutes. It even suggested an emotional plot that could work well for a hero-oriented film. The producer was so impressed that he started developing the project further.
However, some filmmakers do not agree with this approach. They believe that cinema is not just about generating lines or ideas as it requires creativity, emotion, and depth that only humans can provide.
A director shared that one of his assistants tried to narrate a story to him after generating it from ChatGPT. The director immediately recognized it was machine-written and rejected it, saying that true storytelling cannot come from shortcuts.
Still, many others are experimenting with AI tools. Some young filmmakers feel it can save time in basic writing and help spark fresh ideas. But at the same time, senior filmmakers warn that overusing AI may reduce originality in cinema.
If the usage of artificial intelligence in script writing gets more prevalent than writers could be having a tough time. But at the end of the day, Telugu cinema is an indigenous craft and it would require a lot of human intelligence as the emotions are completely different here.
