South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) is one of the most renowned award ceremonies in South India. The grand event happens every year starting in 2012 where the best from different industries get the recognition they deserve. It is also a place where celebrities from industries across South India meet and have a great time.


The 12th Edition to celebrate the best of South Indian cinema is about to take place in Dubai on 14th and 15th September 2024. SIIMA 2024 has announced the nominations from the films released in the 2023 calendar year. Brinda Prasad Adusumilli, Chairperson of SIIMA has announced the nominations. Brinda Prasad says, “Over the last couple of years the South Indian filmmakers have broken the language barrier and have produced national hit by making regional the new national; SIIMA 2024 is going to have a strong contenders list.”


In 2023, there is one film from each industry that got the most nominations in various categories and it is 'Dasara' in Telugu, 'Jailer' in Tamil, 'Kateera' in Kannada and '2018' in Malayalam. 'Dasara' directed by Srikanth Odela, starring Nani and Keerthi Suresh, is leading with 11 nominations. Interestingly, Nani's other film 'Hi Nanna' got nominated in 10 categories.


Superstar Rajnikanth's 'Jailer' is leading with 11 nominations while 'Maamannan', starring Udhayanidhi Stalin and Keerthy Suresh, follows closely with 9 Nominations. In Malayalam, '2018' directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, starring Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali is leading with 8 nominations while 'Kaathal - The Core', starring Mammootty and Jyothika, follows closely with 7 Nominations.


'Kateera' is the Kannada film with most nominations from Sandalwood. It was nominated in 8 categories while Rakshit Shetty's 'Sapta Saagaradaache Ello – Side A' had 7 nominations. The winner is going to be chosen through voting and the netizens can select the deserved winner by looking into www.siima.in and the Facebook page of SIIMA.
