Like a coin with two faces, the actress is juggling a mix of exciting news and a legal storm. On the bright side, she is set to open a cafe in Manali on Valentine’s Day, a venture she describes as one of the "most special projects" of her life. Fans are already abuzz, with the announcement being the talk of the town. Ranaut even shared a glimpse of the cosy space, offering a sneak peek into what promises to be a charming new destination for foodies and fans alike.
On the flip side, things aren’t as rosy in the courtroom. The Mumbai court recently gave Kangana "one last chance" before issuing a non-bailable warrant in the defamation case filed against her by veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar. The case dates back to 2020 when Ranaut made controversial statements about a 2016 meeting with Akhtar, which he denied. Despite multiple absences from key court dates, Ranaut's advocate, Rizwan Siddiquee, cited her "parliamentary commitments" as the reason for her absence. However, Akhtar’s advocate, Jay K Bhardwaj, pressed for action, citing the actor’s repeated failures to appear. The court has now granted Ranaut one final opportunity to resolve the matter before further consequences are considered.
This legal battle, which has been dragging on since 2020, stems from Ranaut’s claims about being pressured into apologizing by Akhtar, which she later filed as a counter-complaint. While both parties had agreed to mediation in December 2024, the process has yet to materialize, and the case continues to be delayed, with Ranaut’s no-show adding fuel to the fire.
As for her career, despite the courtroom drama, Kangana is forging ahead. Along with the upcoming opening of her cafe, she will soon be reuniting with her Tanu Weds Manu co-star R. Madhavan for an exciting new project. Despite the turbulence, it seems Kangana is ready to rise above it all, and the coming months will likely see her balancing both her new ventures and legal hurdles with the same fierce determination that’s become her trademark.
