The upcoming mythological epic Kannappa has generated strong buzz, not just for its star cast but also for the casting decisions that happened behind the scenes. While Kajal Aggarwal is all set to grace the screen as Parvati Devi, it has now come to light that she wasn’t the first choice. Manchu Vishnu initially had Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut in mind to portray the divine role.

Vishnu, who plays a pivotal role in the film and is deeply involved in its production, reportedly pursued Kangana for the Parvati role. However, due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts and other professional commitments, she had to turn down the offer. With time ticking and the role still vacant, the makers turned to Kajal Aggarwal, whose elegance and screen presence made her a fitting choice.

Interestingly, Kajal and Vishnu share a history on screen. They previously appeared as siblings in the thriller Mosagallu, and that professional rapport played a part in her agreeing to join Kannappa. Not to mention, Kajal had already shared the frame with Akshay Kumar, who plays Shiva in Kannappa, in Special 26, giving the team confidence in their pairing as Parvati and Shiva.

Though Kajal wasn’t the original pick, the shift seems to have worked in the film’s favor. With her experience and ongoing popularity, she has added renewed excitement to the project. Sometimes, the second choice ends up being the perfect one and Kannappa might just prove that.
