Korean Kanakaraju Day 1 Collection: Varun Tej Gets a Decent Opening

Varun Tej’s latest movie Korean Kanakaraju opened in theatres on August 7. The horror comedy is directed by Merlapaka Gandhi and has received mixed reactions from critics and audiences. Even with mixed reviews, the movie managed to get a decent opening at the box office.

According to the reported figures, Korean Kanakaraju collected around Rs. 6.50 crore gross worldwide on its first day. The movie earned around Rs. 4.50 crore gross in India, while the overseas market contributed nearly Rs. 2 crore. The reported India net collection is around Rs. 3.95 crore.

The Telugu states played a major role in the movie’s first-day collections. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together contributed around Rs. 4 crore gross. The film also collected around Rs. 43 lakh in Karnataka and nearly Rs. 5 lakh in Tamil Nadu.

The movie was released across 1,656 shows on its opening day. It recorded an overall occupancy of around 41 percent. Some locations performed better than others. Guntur recorded around 71 percent occupancy, while Visakhapatnam recorded 59.5 percent. Kakinada recorded 57 percent, Warangal 54 percent and Vijayawada around 51 percent.

The movie saw better response during the evening and night shows. The morning shows recorded around 27.83 percent occupancy, while the night shows reached around 57.42 percent. This shows that the film gained some momentum as the day progressed.

Korean Kanakaraju stars Varun Tej in the lead role, with Ritika Nayak as the female lead. Popular comedian Satya plays an important role in the movie. The music has been composed by S. Thaman.

The film is particularly important for Varun Tej as it marks his return to theatres after a gap of nearly two years following Matka. Fans are hoping that Korean Kanakaraju will help him return to the success track.

At the same time, the movie’s performance over the weekend will be important. Strong Saturday and Sunday collections could help the film improve its overall box-office numbers.
