In a recent interaction, Gandhi spoke about the film, its unusual title, NTR’s imitation and Varun Tej’s strong decision about the cast.
Talking about the NTR imitation in the movie, Merlapaka Gandhi clarified that there was no intention to insult or disrespect the legendary actor. He said that imitating NTR was done only for entertainment. The makers have great respect for NTR, and the scenes were created with a positive intention.
Gandhi also explained how the title Korean Kanakaraju came to him. He said that he got the idea after seeing a Korean area and a factory in Penugonda. That experience inspired him to come up with the unusual title for the movie.
The director also revealed an interesting story about actor Satya. According to Gandhi, Satya's dates were not available at one point. Because of this, he discussed the possibility of doing the film with another actor. However, Varun Tej strongly disagreed with the idea.
Gandhi said, “Satya’s dates were not available, so I asked Varun if we could do it with someone else. But he firmly said that even if the movie gets delayed, we should do it only with Satya.” Varun Tej reportedly remained firm about his decision and did not want to replace Satya.
Korean Kanakaraju features Varun Tej in the lead role, with Ritika Nayak as the female lead. Merlapaka Gandhi directed the film, while Thaman is associated with the music. Manoj Reddy is also part of the technical team.
