Last year, senior star Venkatesh Daggubati scored a massive ₹260 crores gross from the worldwide box office with Sankranthiki Vastunnam. This year, we have Megastar Chiranjeevi amassing more than ₹300 crores with Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu.

That naturally puts pressure on other contemporaries of these stars, including Nandamuri Balakrishna and Nagarjuna Akkineni. While Nagarjuna is trying to become part of some big-ticket movies that are going pan-India level, including Kubera and Coolie in recent times, Balakrishna, fondly called Balayya by his fans, is falling behind in the race.

While Akhanda 2 was supposed to be his big ticket to the pan-India race, that film didn’t meet the expectations, with the North audience completely rejecting it despite the hero and director Boyapati’s hefty promotions in Mumbai. The pressure to deliver a big success, that too on a big scale, is mounting on Balakrishna at the moment.

Though he has director Gopichand Malineni’s big film in the lineup, it’s coming out that the director is reworking on the script at the moment to make sure the film gets phenomenal openings and mammoth collections. Even the fans of the senior star hero are wishing that their heartthrob will change the tide immediately and score big.
