Though Prabhas has done films like Saaho, Aadipurush, Radhe Shyam, Salaar, Kalki 2898 AD, and The Raja Saab after delivering Baahubali at the box office, and most of these films didn’t do as expected, they are talking only about Adipurush because of the film’s genre, a mythological film that narrates the story of the Indian land. So what did he really miss with that movie?
Some say that Prabhas is the perfect candidate amongst the latest generation heroes to play the role of Lord Rama on the silver screen. However, director Om Raut has used him like a superhero for the movie, and the poor quality VFX somehow affected the whole charm of the movie. That said, even Prabhas hasn’t worked as dedicatedly for Adipurush like the way he has put blood and sweat for the Baahubali series. Had the hero taken it more seriously, surely the film would have become a much bigger hit, and his name-fame would have reached more unreached corners of the country.
On the other hand, doing mythological films, that too with a story that millions of people know already, is actually a risk-taking move. Both the Ramayana and the Mahabharata are known epics, and if a filmmaker uses them with conviction, like in Kalki 2898 AD, it will work out well. Otherwise, they should dump 1000s of crores to get some terrific Visuals. Adipurush didn’t fall in both zones, and hence the result. That said, Prabhas might have missed out on scoring big with Aadipurush, but he never missed the adulation and admiration from movie lovers.
