Ever since AR Rahman made comments on the BBC Urdu Channel that the change of government in India has led to communal division, and he hasn't been getting work since then, a lot of Indians are responding very strongly and cruelly towards the composer. Joining this brigade is ace director Ram Gopal Varma, whose revelation about the Oscar-winning Jai Ho song from ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is a kind of shocker.

During his old interview, Ram Gopal Varma revealed that sometimes it's a bit of luck that brings things, and he explained the story of how the Jai Ho song ended up in AR Rahman’s kitty. Varma said that when Rahman was delaying work on director-producer Subhash Ghai’s Yuvaraj movie, singer-composer Sukhwinder Singh composed the Jai Ho song for that movie. However, scolding that what’s the purpose of paying Rahman almost ₹3 cr, if Sukhwinder composes a song, Subhash Ghai rejected it.

Later, Sukhdwinder Singh composed the full song and mailed it to Rahman, who then gave it to the makers of Slumdog Millionaire. While Sukhhwinder himself sang the final song version, it was the very same song that won the prestigious Oscar Award for AR Rahman. This revelation is now making fun of Rahman, saying that the composer is actually stealing credit.

After saying all of this, RGV has today tweeted, “To all concerned .. I am being misquoted and misread out of context in the matter of the Jai ho song . .. in my view AR Rahman is the greatest composer and the nicest human being I ever met and he’s the last person to take away anybody’s credit ..I hope this puts an end to the negativism surrounding the issue”. Many are wondering what RGV said earlier, and if he’s mocking Rahman further with this tweet now.
