Biggest Sankranthi Clash: What To Gain? What To Lose?
It has already come out that Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Venkatesh, and Nagarjuna movies, along with Sharwa and other heroes, are clashing at the Sankranthi 2027 box office.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 9 Feb 2026 2:10 PM ISTAfter witnessing how Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu made humongous collections from the Box Office on the eve of Sankranthi 2026, surely many other producers are now thinking about milking the next Sankranthi season big time.
It has already come out that Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Venkatesh, and Nagarjuna movies, along with Sharwa and other heroes, are clashing at the Sankranthi 2027 box office. Whether most of these films really hit cinemas on Sankranthi 2027 or some of them drop out from the race is not known yet, but many are wondering if this is a mighty move or not.
If we have a look at what to gain or what to lose from this unusual clash, which is not being liked by the distribution sector, though exhibitors might like it, it looks like the issue is pretty debatable. While the gains could be more footfalls for Sankranthi, more money for the whole of the industry.
The losses will be like there will be no single winner like #MegaMSG, because all are big films, and all will share the revenue irrespective of the talk. If all the movies are good, then each film might end up collecting less than what Chiru’s movie did this year.
Back in the day, when stars like Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, and Venkatesh locked horns at the Sankranthi box office, only one of them clicked. Even with average talk, some biggies ended up as disasters. So, sending so many big-ticket movies at the same time will not be a viable option, say trade reports.
