In this context, senior actress Simran, who was once one of the most celebrated heroines in the South Indian film industry made a very interesting comment about doing aunty roles. The actress had a very aggressive statement in this regard, and here is a look into this story.
At a recent award ceremony, Simran shared an incident where a co-star told her, “At least it’s better than playing auntie roles,” after being complimented. Responding to that, Simran said, “Playing auntie roles is still better than doing ‘dabba’ (insignificant) roles, like being a mother to a 25-year-old.”
Her remarks have sparked speculation that it was a subtle dig at actress Jyothika, who recently starred in the Netflix series Dabba Cartel. Given their past professional rivalry, many believe Simran’s comment was directed at Jyothika, indirectly criticizing her role choices in recent projects. Neither actress has officially responded yet.
But for now, the comment that Simran made, which is being indirectly implicated towards Jyothika is now becoming a topic of discussion in Tamil cinema. The fact that Simran made this statement at a public event in the presence of several celebrities could be seen as a power statement from the senior actress.
Not often to senior actress as indulging in such controversial statements, but this case of Simran is proving to be a different story.
