At a recent award ceremony, Simran shared an incident where a co-star told her, “At least it’s better than playing auntie roles,” after being complimented. Responding to that, Simran said, “Playing auntie roles is still better than doing ‘dabba’ (insignificant) roles, like being a mother to a 25-year-old.”

Her remarks have sparked speculation that it was a subtle dig at actress Jyothika, who recently starred in the Netflix series Dabba Cartel. Given their past professional rivalry, many believe Simran’s comment was directed at Jyothika, indirectly criticizing her role choices in recent projects.
