Why Is Rajamouli Focusing on Foreign Trips Over Varanasi?

Rajamouli's recent trip to France made many fans wonder why he was away from the sets of Varanasi. Some even felt that the film's shooting had been delayed because of his foreign tour. One of the biggest moments of the trip came in Lyon, where Rajamouli was honoured by the famous Institut Lumière. While interacting with fans, Rajamouli also shared exciting updates about his upcoming films. He revealed that Baahubali: The Eternal War is progressing well. More importantly, he confirmed that Varanasi has entered its final stage of production. According to him, the major IMAX-scale action sequences have already been completed, and only around 80 days of shooting are left before the film is finished.

The Varanasi team is set to resume shooting from July 7 in Hyderabad. The next schedule is expected to be one of the biggest in the film's production. Reports suggest that Rajamouli will direct a massive war sequence involving nearly 3,500 junior artistes. After filming, the sequence will be further enhanced with high-quality visual effects to create a grand cinematic experience.

With his successful France visit now complete, Rajamouli has shifted his full attention back to Varanasi. The trip not only brought him global appreciation but also increased the international visibility of Telugu cinema. As the film moves closer to completion, fans are eagerly waiting to see this ambitious mythological action drama when it releases on April 7, 2027.
