Kannada fans are fuming after rumours spread that Sudeep’s short cameo from Baahubali: The Epic might be chopped out. The re-release, which hits theatres on October 31, has everyone curious since it merges Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2 into one giant version. But somewhere between all the edits, the talk of removing Sudeep’s part has started a full-blown online protest.
Sudeep’s role as Aslam Khan may have lasted just a few minutes, but for fans, it meant a lot. It wasn’t about the length of the role, it was about pride. Seeing their star share the screen in India’s biggest franchise was a huge deal. Now, talk of trimming scenes to fit the extended 3-hour-45-minute version has set off alarms. People have taken to Twitter to demand that his cameo stay untouched, and the posts are getting louder by the hour.
One fan account dropped a sharp warning that caught everyone’s eye. It said that if Sudeep’s scene is deleted, then Rajamouli and Prabhas will face heat in Karnataka. The post even mentioned boycotting their upcoming movies, SSMB29 and Raja Saab. The tweet was short, blunt, and clearly not just talk. It spread fast, with other fan pages joining in, turning it into a statewide online storm.
