Worrying Times? Telugu Folk Not Hyped On Big Films?

By: Tupaki Desk | 13 May 2026 3:43 PM ISTBack in the day, when a big hero film used to release in theatres, there was a festival atmosphere. People used to absolutely celebrate cinema to the fullest capacity back then.
But that is not even remotely the case now as the audience have completely changed their viewing patterns. People are simply not willing to turn up to the theatres in substantial numbers, unless something pretty extraordinary is being offered.
For instance, we have the case of Tamil hero Surya arriving at the big screens tomorrow with his upcoming film Karuppu, which is dubbed in Telugu as Veera Bhadrudu.
But despite the fact that this is a reasonably big film featuring a notable South Indian star, there is absolutely zero interest from the South Indian audience. Virtually nothing is going in favour of this film at this point.
Advance bookings on BookMyShow in the Telugu states are shockingly low. Lack of promotions and the non appealing(to the Telugu folk) trailer have worked against the cause of this film at a large capacity.
At this point in time, any kind of reasonable openings are pretty much out of the equation. All we can do is patiently, wait and watch if the film actually delivers quality content which could in turn bring audience to theatres.
It wasn’t long before Surya was one of the big names in South Indian cinema, and had a considerable following in Telugu. This must come to the rescue of this film now.
