Recently, the words of senior hero Akkineni Nagarjuna have gone viral from the success celebrations of “Lenin” as he asked the Tollywood technicians to deliver projects on time. While Nagarjuna is asking technicians to change, the audience is saying even heroes should change. Especially the big star heroes who should change, is what they say.

There are times when every big star used to do commercial movies and at the same time some family-centric films. The likes of Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, and Nagarjuna used to balance between action films and family movies. There are movies like Annayya, Ninne Pelladatha and others that are pure family dramas, with a little dose of action. However, these days, due to the impact of films like KGF and Kantara, more star heroes want to do either high-budget, high-octane action films or Kantara-like fantasy movies. But none is doing simply family films like Bommarillu, to that matter.

While doing ₹150-200 crores worth of films might live up to their stardom, it would be good if star heroes do some movies that will have emotions, family tales, messages, and cultural aspects of Telugu people. If newcomers do such movies, the audience might not receive it. But if established superstars do such films, surely they will reach the masses. Otherwise, if we keep on doing these high-budget actioners, one day, there’s a chance of forgetting what Telugu cinema is.
