Trend: Telugu Films With Foreign Tales
X

There was a time where Telugu films followed the trend of setting up the first half of the movie abroad, and then the hero comes to India during interval, and the rest of the story happens here. Many such films came in Bollywood too. And later, that trend disappeared as films that are shot abroad are not clicking as much. Now and them, some movies come up with foreign backdrop, but they are love stories and simple movies. That trend is changing now.

Look at the upcoming film Pawan Kalyan’s #OG2, which happens to be the sequel of #OG and this time the total film is set against a Japanese backdrop only and will be shot in Tokyo and other places. At the same time, Varun Tej’s upcoming movie Korean Kanakaraju has Korea backdrop. The story goes there itself, and the title itself indicates that. Jr NTR’s upcoming movie, Prashanth Neel’s Dragaon, has Mumbai and Afghanistan as the main backdrop.

Even other movies of big stars have such global backdrops, and interestingly, they are not just backdrops, but also foreign tales. Most of the story is related to a foreign land only, and the primary plot is of an incident that takes place on foreign soil. That means, these are foreign tales being narrated in Telugu, we have to say. As long as directors make engaging films, no matter what backdrop they have, the audience will patronise those movies.
