Strike Begins in Tollywood: What’s the Impact?
As a result, shootings of several movies and web series have come to a halt.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 4 Aug 2025 5:38 PM ISTA strike has started in Tollywood. The Film Federation has announced that it will only work on movies where producers agree to a 30% wage increase. Because of this, many film workers have stopped attending shoots from this morning.
As a result, shootings of several movies and web series have come to a halt. If the strike continues, big-budget films might face serious problems. Major projects with expensive sets and top stars are at risk of delays and financial losses.
Megastar Chiranjeevi and Anil Ravipudi’s film is in an important stage of shooting, but work has stopped. Call sheets for Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara are being wasted, and the large sets are costing money even without any work happening. Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 is also in its final phase and could be delayed.
Other films like Raja saab, which has been in production for four years, and Ram Pothineni’s night shoot project are also affected. Decoit and Mirai are in the middle of filming too. If the strike goes on for long, budgets will rise and release dates may be pushed. However, there is hope that the issue might be resolved by this evening.
