By: Shanaz B Syed | 24 July 2026 5:46 PM ISTAs discussed multiple times already, mega hero Varun Tej needs a blockbuster badly such that his career would get saved. With almost four flops in a row, his films are running out of budgets, and OTT platforms are also offering a lower amount for his projects. That’s the reason his next outing, Korean Kanakaraju, which is now slated for an August 7th release, got delayed earlier.
Buzz is coming out that Varun Tej’s Korean Kanakaraju has turned out to have fetched more than expected from the OTT market. The film has secured almost a ₹20 crore OTT deal from a leading digital streaming platform. With other rights like satellite, remake and dubbing included, it made another ₹6 crore, they say. On the whole, the non-theatrical rights have fetched around ₹26 crores for UV Creations for this Varun Tej starrer.
Directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, and featuring Varun Tej and Ritika Nayak, Korean Kanaraja is said to have cost nearly ₹38 crores for the making, as the film was shot in South Korea, Vietnam and other places, and turns out to be a stunning action entertainer than expected. It deals with the story of an Anantapur-based goon, who is now taken over by a Korean Don’s ghost, and goes all over Korea to fight opponents.
If the film clicks on August 7th and makes at least 30 crores gross from the box office, it will be a profitable film for all the parties. For now, the producers are said to be in safe mode only.
