7 Lakh Indian Students Went Abroad For Studies In 2022!

The Indian Government in Lok Sabha said that 750000 students went abroad for higher education last year. Union Minister Dr. Bharati Pawar said that in 2022, 750365 students pursued higher education in 2022. In 2018, 518015 students studied abroad while 586337 went abroad in 2019. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the count of students studying abroad fell to 259655 in 2021.
In a reply to a question on the details of Medical students studying abroad, Dr. Pawar said that around 1.2 million Indians are pursuing their studies in foreign nations across the fields. However, she said that there is no concrete data on Indian students who are studying medicine. 3964 Indian Medicine students enrolled themselves in the Academic transfer program and around 170 students enrolled in the academic mobility programme, she said.
She also spoke about the temporary rehabilitation for various Universities abroad and the permanent transfer of students to new medical colleges in the nation from the abroad universities. She said that the National Medical Commission did not give its nod to transfer the medical students who studied abroad as there is no rule to allow abroad students in Indian institutions.
Dr. Pawar said that regular talks are going on between the local authorities and the officials of the University to ensure the safety of the Indian students studying abroad. She said this in response to a question on doubts about the safety of students.
She also mentioned the policy of the National Medical Commission for the Indian students who left foreign Medical universities due to the Covid outbreak and the Russia-Ukraine row. Certificates were given to students who finished their studies. To complete the medical studies they missed they can take the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination and finish the two-year compulsory Rotating Medical Internship. Medicine in India..foreign medical graduates can enroll only after finishing the internship of two years.
