AB Venkateswara Rao Wants to Get out of ACB Case Totally?
By: Tupaki Desk | 5 July 2022 10:19 AM GMTThere is no relief for senior IPS officer and ex-intelligence chief of Andhra Pradesh AB Venkateswara Rao. The 1989 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, who waged a legal battle for two years and got his suspension revoked had started another big legal battle.
The alleged irregularities row in the purchase of surveillance equipment from an Israeli company, when he was the chief of the intelligence wing is haunting him and the state government is mounting troubles for him using the same case. He was suspended for the second time in connection with the same old issue.
Having enough of the case, AB Venkateswara Rao had knocked on the doors of the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking directives from the court to quash the case that was slapped against him by the Andhra Pradesh wing of the anti-corruption bureau (ACB).
Through his lawyers, the former intelligence chief of Andhra Pradesh state AB Venkateswara Rao told the High Court that he is innocent in the case and he has no role to play in the case that was filed against him.
Besides quashing the case, the senior IPS office also requested the court to grant protection against any action in connection with the case until the case is cleared.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been accusing A B Venkateshwar Rao of wrongdoings while processing the equipment since he was in opposition. After coming to power, Jagan removed him from the post on the grounds of alleged involvement in the irregularities.
It took two long years for the senior IPS officer to get the posting orders again from the state government. Going by the orders of the Supreme Court, he was appointed as Commissioner, of Printing, and Stationery. Weeks after the appointment, he was suspended again for the alleged violation of the rules.
The case he has been facing in connection with the alleged irregularities is the root cause of all the problems and issues that are directed at him. Once the case is withdrawn, then there will be no issues for him. Looks like, AB Venkateswara Rao wants to get out of the case at once.
