Amaravati Farmers On No-rest Mode, Moves Supreme Court?
By: Tupaki Desk | 8 Aug 2022 2:10 PM GMTThe Amaravati Farmers in Andhra Pradesh are keeping up their fight in the capital city row. When the state High Court earlier directed that the Amaravati region should be developed as the capital, everyone felt that the issue would be addressed, but in vain.
The Amaravati capital city row reached the Supreme Court as the farmers are believed to have moved the top court. Not happy with the state government for not implementing the orders issued by the High Court, the farmers knocked on the doors of the Apex Court.
Media reports say that the farmers through a lawyer in the petition said that the High Court ordered the government to develop the Amaravati region as the capital city. However, the government is not implementing the same and it is nothing but contempt of court.
Though reports said that Amaravati farmers knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court, there is no information on when the issue will be heard by the top court. We might get clarity on this soon.
It is known how adamant the state government is about having three capitals. Despite the High Court saying that Amaravati should be developed as the capital city, a few legislators from the party made it clear that the party is focused on decentralization of development and the government would go for three capitals.
The orders from the High Court were given after the Amaravati farmers sat for protest and then the court said that Amaravati which was proposed as the capital city has all the reasons to be the capital as all the required agreements were made.
