At the time when the Amaravati farmers were not leaving any stones unturned to protest against the three capital proposal made by the YSRCP government, the Andhra Pradesh government announced that the three capitals bills will be repealed. Andhra Pradesh Advocate General Subrahmanyam Sriram who attended the Andhra Pradesh High Court for the hearing on the issue on Monday announced the same.

The news made the protesting Amaravati farmers jump out in joy as they have been eagerly waiting to hear the same from the Andhra Pradesh government. However, a Minister from Andhra Pradesh gave a new twist to the tale with his contrasting comments on the development.

Andhra Pradesh Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, who holds the Panchayati Raj & Rural Development portfolio in Jagan Cabinet opined that the announcement is an interval and for the End Card, it will take a lot of time.

Adding further, the Minister went on to say that he is bound to three capitals and said the decision to withdraw the petition was made so that a few technical changes can be made to the bill. For the same reason, we filed an affidavit in the High Court today. The decision should not be seen as the Amaravati farmers' victory, he said.

His comments came as a sudden surprise in the issue and poured water on the happiness of the Amaravati farmers. His comments hinted that the government may stick to its earlier decision and might go ahead in having three capitals for the decentralisation of development in the state that was left without any proper capital.

On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath had introduced the bill that aims at repealing the bills on having three capitals for the state. Addressing the Assembly house, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the bill was repealed as it has some issues and new bills will be introduced very soon.

The YSRCP government had earlier announced the Andhra Pradesh Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill, 2020 to make way for three capitals. With this, Amaravati will be made one of the capitals rather than enjoying the status of only capital.
