By: Tupaki Desk | 22 Dec 2021 10:02 AM GMTAs a world, we all faced the wrath of the novel Coronavirus. To break the chain of transmission, a series of lockdowns were imposed in the country and people were forced to work from home. When the situation hinted that everything was fine, we faced another common threat.
The researchers have found a deadly variant of Coronavirus that was named Omicron. The South Africa variant is ringing the danger bells across the world and it is being the driving force of the fresh infections in various countries.
Looking at the situation in India, the cases are increasing steadily. The number of states that have reported Omicron infections is also increasing. Telugu State Andhra Pradesh reported one more Omicron case after a woman who returned to Tirupati from Kenya was tested positive for Coronavirus.
When her test reports came back positive, the authorities sent her samples for sequencing. The reports are said to have confirmed that she was infected with the Omicron variant. As per the protocol, she was shifted to the hospital facility for further treatment.
The new infection was detected under the existing protocols of testing all the passengers who have a history of coming from other countries.
After the infection was confirmed, the authorities swung into action and tested people who came in contact with her. As a piece of good news, none of her contacts came in contact with the virus, as per the media reports. With the fresh case, the number of infections detected in the state rose to two.
The Omicron cases have surpassed the 200-mark after as many as 214 cases were detected in the country as of now. The national capital Delhi dethroned Maharashtra and become the state with the highest number of infections.
