As a Fresh Demand Fans Akkinenis name for this district
By: Tupaki Desk | 29 Jan 2022 9:07 AM GMTnew districts row in Andhra Pradesh gave birth to a fresh controversy. The heat around the issue is getting bigger as a few leaders are coming up with new demands and objecting to the names of the new districts. Government naming Vijayawada after NTR did not sit well with the Kapu leaders and they are demanding that the Vijayawada district should be named after Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga.
Now a fresh demand is coming that the Machilipatnam district should be named after a veteran actor who had made valuable contributions to the cinema industry as an actor and filmmaker.
The members of the Akkineni Fans Association requested the Andhra Pradesh government that the newly formed Machilipatnam should be named after the late Akkineni Nageswara Rao. They are requesting the government to consider their request in this regard.
While requesting the Government to name the Machilipatnam district after ANR the Fans Association members are listing out the contribution made by the matinee idol towards the industry and the humanitarian work he did over the years.
Talking about the significance of their demand the Association members said that Akkineni Nageswara Rao hails from Gudivada which now falls under the Machilipatnam and for the same reason they want the district to be named after ANR. Fans also urged the government to consider the humanitarian work he had done.
Fans are hoping that their demand will be addressed and the Machilipatnam district gets renamed after ANR. If the same happens Machilipatnam gets the second district from the Tollywood after matinee idol and former Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.
Akkineni Nageswara Rao was one of the prominent members of Tollywood. He and NTR were considered the two eyes of the industry which shows the significance the duo had on the industry. His career lasted for around seven long decades and he even achieved his dream of lasting till his last breath.
ANR also played his part when the Tollywood film industry moved to Hyderabad from then Madras in the 1960s. To boost the industry he had started Annapurna Studios to provide more facilities for the industry in film making. It was one of the first studies to come to Hyderabad when the industry came here.
