BCs moving away from TRS in Munugode?

In a huge shock to the ruling TRS in the poll-bound Munugode assembly constituency, the BC communities are slowly but clearly distancing themselves from the party. The presence of the BC community leaders in the TRS programmes has become minimal. Sources say that this is because the BC leaders feel that the TRS does not understand their sensibilities.

While the BJP has already given the party ticket to Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and the Congress has announced Palvai Sravanthi as its candidate, the TRS is still undecided about its nominee. Both Komatireddy and Sravanthi are from the Reddy community. So, many TRS leaders expected that the party would put up a BC candidate.

Munugode has a significant population of BCs. Estimates say that 72 per cent of the voters are from the BC communities. Accordingly, BC leaders such as former MLC Karne Prabhakar, MLC Boora Narsaiah Goud, senior leader Karnati Vidya Sagar and several others are vying for the seat. But, constituency incharge minister Jagadeesh Reddy clearly prefers Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy. Reddy has already alienated several BC leaders with his style of functioning.

As a result, the BC leaders are keeping away from the TRS meetings and campaign. In fact, Boora Narsiah Goud has even said that he is not being invited to the party meetings and alleged that he was being discriminated only because he is a BC leader. The constituency has 35000 Gouds, 21000 Yadavs, 33000 Mudirajas and 11000 Padmasalis. Hence, these leaders say that ignoring the BCs could prove detrimental to the TRS.
