Bharat Jodo Yatra: Rahul Inquiries Congress Status In AP?

The grand old Congress party has one big aim which is to bring back the lost glory. Former party chief Rahul Gandhi took the big responsibility onto his shoulders and started a massive yatra titled Bharat Yatra. We have to say that the Wayanad MP is doing well in leading the yatra.

After covering different states, the Bharat Jodo yatra reached Andhra Pradesh. Near Anantapur's Rayadurgam the yatra entered Andhra Pradesh. The local cadre gave a good welcome to Rahul Gandhi. The likes of Shailajanath, former Minister Raghuveera Reddy, and others were present.

Though the yatra would not cover the state and would pass through a few kilometers in Andhra Pradesh and then enter Karnataka, it is said that Rahul Gandhi met the leaders there and took inputs about them about the position of the party in the state.

It is known that Congress almost got wiped out in the divided Andhra Pradesh after the bifurcation. Though the party tried its luck in the 2014 polls, the party had no candidates to contest for the 2019 general elections.

Congress was in a good position in Andhra Pradesh in combined days and even ruled the state for many terms. But saying yes to Telangana creation was a blunder for the party and it lost its presence. The cadre and vote bank it had in the region went for YSRCP with YSR's legacy taken up by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Except for a few leaders, Congress is almost empty in the state. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi invited a few leaders to revive the party and that did not work as expected as there is no growth in the party's strength. Even former Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy who has a history of serving as the last CM of the combined state was also invited. But there is no clarity on what he wants to do.

As Bharat Jodo Yatra reached Andhra Pradesh for the first time after many years Rahul Gandhi reportedly inquired about the position of Congress in Andhra Pradesh. He also asked leaders about the public pulse on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's ruling. Looks like Congress is focusing on AP too.
