Karnataka: Big Task For Congress To Select CM Candidate?

The grand old Congress party recorded a morale-boosting victory in the recent Karnataka Assembly elections. The party not only defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party but also crushed the saffron party with almost double the seats. The grand victory has great significance as it came ahead of the much-awaited 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
As the Congress party recorded a super victory, all eyes are now on the Chief Minister's post. Two leaders are said to be in the race for the post. The new Chief Minister of Karnataka will take the oath on the 18th of this month which is two days from now.
Observers say that Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar are the front runners for the post. Posters supporting them and calling them the CM face are already erected in the state. While DK Shiva Kumar's supporters set up posters saying that he is the right candidate, the same happened with Siddaramaiah.
Some posters say that Siddaramaiah would be the CM. Now an intense debate is going on to know who will be picked for the post by the leadership. The two leaders are two tall leaders in the state for the grand old Congress party.
Siddaramaiah has the advantage of knowing administrative things and he earlier served as the Chief Minister of the state. If the leadership goes for him he would be the CM for the second term. He hails from the Kuruba community which is one of the most influential in the state.
On the other hand, DK Shiva Kumar is seen as a troubleshooter in the party as he helped the party in many troublesome situations. There is a talk that the Congress leadership might give him the chance to honor him for the services he made for the party whenever it was needed. As far as the community aspect is concerned he hails from the Vokkaliga community.
Now the Congress party is facing a big task in selecting the candidate. The party cannot take any change. Moreover, there are speculations that things are not well between Shiva Kumar and Siddaramaiah. So the party leadership should make sure that the two leaders won't feel bad.
