BJP in AP wants Pawan On Right, NTR on Left side
By: Tupaki Desk | 5 Sep 2022 8:11 AM GMTWhat is the BJP's strategy in Andhra Pradesh? Does it want to run with the hare and hunt with the hound? Does it want friendship of Pawan Kalyan but also support from NTR Junior? Will courting both the film stars at the same time work for the party in the 2024 elections? What is in the mind of the BJP national leadership.
On Sunday, AP BJP president Somu Veerraju said that the party definitely wants to have an electoral tie up with Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena for the 2024 elections. At the same time, he also indicated that the party is also planning to have NTR Junior to campaign in some select areas. When questioned about NTR, he said that the party wants NTR to campaign in areas where he has considerable influence. He said NTR will surely make a difference in the electoral outcome.
NTR met Amit Shah during the latter's visit to Hyderabad to address a public meeting. The meeting set off a furious debate and many suspected that the BJP wants to make new inroads in AP riding on the piggyback of NTR.
This comment of Somu Veerraju has tirred a hornet's nest in AP. That the Jana Sena and NTR stay in opposite camps in the industry as well as in politics. Jana Sena has in fact criticised the TDP in the 2019 elections. However, of late, there is a buzz about the TDP and the Jana Sena coming together and ditching the BJP. In this situation, Somu Veerraju's statement created quite a sensation. Does this mean the BJP wants Jana Sena to stay out of the possible alliance with the TDP. Will it form a front with Jana Sena and have NTR to campaign in at least some key constituencies? Will this mean, the BJP wants to emerge as a third force in Andhra Pradesh politics? Well one will have to wait for some more time to get answers for these questions. Let's wait and watch how things unfold.
