BJP Making Munugode the Costly By-election In India?

On paper, India is the biggest democracy in the world. When it comes to reality, money and gifts play a big role in shaping public opinion in elections. Irrespective of the places the parties give their best in wooing the voters by offering gifts like cricket kits, mixer grinders, and liquor.
The Telugu states are also proving that they are not less in this. The recent Huzurabad by-election was dubbed as the costliest election India ever witnessed with money and liquor flowing like water. Money was seized as the parties tried their best in attracting voters.
Now, all focus is on the upcoming Munugode by-elections and the bypoll is believed to be an even more costly election than Huzurabad. The saffron party Bharatiya Janata Party took the election prestigious and has been trying hard to win the poll at any cost.
BJP candidate Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy has been facing a negative image as he is believed to have left the grand old Congress for the saffron party for a few contracts. The ruling TRS and Congress are attacking him on the same thing and posters accusing him of the same appeared in poll-bound Munugode.
Amid the negative trend, it is not an easy task for Rajgopal Reddy to win the polls and test why the Bharatiya Janata Party stepped in and made the by-election costliest election by offering gold coins to the voters.
The media reports say that BJP is distributing gold coins that wights around one gram. The packing of the gold coin has a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the election symbol. This added fuel to the debate that the BJP is distributing the gold.
Gold became costly in India due to the changes and a gram of gold costs more than five thousand. There are more than two lakh voters in the Assembly constituency. Even if the party distributes the gold to half of them then it would be in crores. This says how prestigious the by-poll became for the major parties in the state.
