BJP now eyes three big leaders in Khammam

The Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party is now planning to shift its focus to Khammam district. This district has always been a Congress and a Communist citadel with both the parties well-entrenched in the rural areas. The TRS is quite weak in this district and except for Khammam urban seat, its presence is limited. The BJP wants to focus on this district now.
The BJP is quite weak and has never won in Khammam district so far. Its organizational structure too is quite fragile. But, the party is hopeful that there is a groundswell of support for its ideology among the youths. The party is said to be trying to rope in senior leaders like former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, former MLA Jalagam Prasada Rao and former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
These three leaders are in the TRS, but are keeping a distance from the day-to-day activities. The BJP feels that the joining of these leaders would give the much-needed boost to the party. The party reportedly held several rounds of discussions with these leaders so far.
The BJP is upbeat that it has managed to increase its vote tally in Munugode, which essentially is very much like Khammam. Munugode has sent the Congress and the Communists equally to the assembly. That the BJP got this many votes in Munugode has given confidence to the party that it could repeat the same in Khammam, which has similar characteristics.
If sources are to be believed, the BJP is working hard to get some big names from Khammam into the party. This, the BJP, hopes will change the complexion in Khammam district. It remains to be seen if the big three join the party and ensure its victory in the district.
