BJP targets pro-KTR realty firms big time, alarm bells ring in TRS
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 Aug 2022 7:22 AM GMTThe TRS circles are alarmed at the way in which the Central investigative agencies are targeting real estate firms that are close to them in Telangana. They strongly believe that the raids have got to do with the closeness of these real estate firms to the ruling party in general and the KCR family in particular.
On Tuesday, a 250-member team of CBI sleuths descended from Mumbai and conducted simultaneous raids at several places including Hyderabad. Though the incident did not get much mileage due to the Raja Singh issue, the raids have sent alarm bells ringing in the TRS establishment. The firm raided on Tuesday is Phoenix, which is considered close to KTR.
Phoenix's chairperson Chukkapalli Suresh is considered quite close to the officials and the political leaders, especially those from the TRS. Sources claim that KTR had made investments and is linked to the company. So, the raids are primarily meant to identify KTR's footprint in Phoenix, according to sources. The message, they claim, is clear – do not mess up with the BJP at the Centre.
Only two days ago, another popular real estate company Vasavi was raided. There were raids at 10 destinations at the same time. Sources claim that KTR has business relations with this company too. However, the sleuths could not get anything worthwhile that could establish a link with KTR. They said that the firms may have taken adequate precautions in advance.
The sleuths believe that huge amounts of unaccounted money is entering into the market through real estate and the big companies are playing a key role in money laundering. The CBI is determined to go to the root of the problem, sources say. They warn that there could be some more raids in the coming few days.
