BJP Trying 'Divide And Defeat' Strategy In Tamil Nadu
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Nov 2020 12:14 PM GMTThe BJP is now trying the 'divide and defeat' game on the DMK in Tamil Nadu. In Tamil Nadu, the DMK is the chief opposition and is making a very powerful bid for grabbing the reins of power. However, the BJP is all set eat into the strengths of the BJP.
If sources are to be believed, the BJP is trying to weaken the DMK by weaning away DKM chief Stalin's elder brother Alagiri. Alagiri, the eldest son of Karunanithi has been keeping a low profile ever since he was edged out of the party Stalin. But, he has considerable clout in the South Tamil Nadu. So, the BJP is trying to talk to Alagiri. He will work as a counterpoise to the DMK. If sources are to be believed, Alagiri will start a new party and this party will extend its support to the BJP. This will be either a pre-poll or post-poll arrangement.
So, some senior BJP leaders are said to be in talks with Alagiri. Some key BJP leaders met Alagiri recently and held talks with him. While Alagiri remained non-committal, he did not also give any inclination that he is going to reject the BJP offer. Sources say that if Alagiri becomes part of the BJP combine, it would bring a major tectonic shift in the Tamil politics.
