BRS MLAs worried over election-eve IT raids
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 Jun 2023 2:51 PM ISTEven as the media was preoccupied with the stories of ED raids on Tamil Nadu's powerful minister Senthil Balaji, the IT sleuths sent shockwaves in Telangana. On Wednesday, they conducted raids at 12 different locations in Telangana and the targets were all MLAs from the ruling Bharata Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
An MP, two MLAs and a key party leader was targeted during the raids. The MLAs are - Pailla Sekhar Reddy and Marri Janardhan Reddy. MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy was also targeted. Besides, TRS money bag and key leader with high connections Kondapalli Madhav was also raided. The offices, residences and other assets belonging to these leaders were raided.
It may be recalled that with the elections approaching, the BRS leaders are raising the necessary resources. The raids at such a time are bound to cause concern. Already, more than half a dozen BRS MLAs have faced IT raids. There are reports that a few more MLAs could also be raided soon . The BRS feels that this is an attempt by the BJP to rob the party of its financial resources.
Significantly, the raids have come weeks after chief minister KCR reportedly alerted the party MLAs that there could be raids on them by the Central government's agencies. Sources also said that KCR has taken note of Wednesday's raids and is said to have spoken to the MLAs concerned. He is said to have assured them that the party would stand by them.
