Firebrand politician from Maharashtra Nawab Malik who waged a war against the Narcotics Control Bureau and the then agency chief Sameer Wankhede and enjoyed good attention from one and all is now in the news for one more. The Cabinet Minister is in the news for not-so-good reasons.
The NCP leader was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) earlier today and the arrest was made in connection with a money laundering case to look into the matter of alleged links with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. The questioning had started in the Morning and was said to be still going on.
According to the media reports, Nawab Malik is said to have ties with Dawood and his brothers. To know the truth behind this, the officials are said to be grilling the Minister going by the data they have collected in their preliminary investigation.
The Cabinet Minister was arrested in connection with the recent case that was filed by the primary counter-terrorist task force National Investigation Agency(NIA) against underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
Going by the information, the concerned officials are said to have kept a few people who are believed to be the close aides of Dawood under the scanner and after reportedly gathering info that Nawab Malik might have ties with them, he was placed under arrest.
It is also said that the ED officials are conducting multiple searches at different locations to gather as much information as possible in the case.
