Can AICC Elections Change The Fate Of Congress?

The grand old Congress is one of the longest-surviving parties in the country. The country has been active since the independence fight and after India became independent Congress came to power and led the country for a few decades. This is history, currently, the party is not in a good position.
While the Bharatiya Janata Party is getting stronger day by day, Congress is getting weaker. The lack of strong leadership is visible in Congress. To address this, the party called for elections to elect the chief who will lead the party.
Though many names popped up when the elections were announced, two leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor made it to the final list and they will try their luck in the polls that are slated for commencement today. More than 9,000 delegations were given the voting right to elect the leader.
Historic voting is special for various reasons. First is that it is the sixth election to elect the chief of the All India Congress Committee(AICC). After around 24 years, a non-Gandhi family member is going to lead the party which is carrying a rich legacy behind it.
However, political observers say that Mallikarjun Kharge is likely to get an advantage and win the polls as he is supported by many seniors in the party. To campaign for him, the senior leaders resigned from the posts they held in the grand old Congress party.
Keeping this all aside, what difference the elections will make is the question we should ask the Congress party. Congress is going through a rough phase and the leader who is elected as AICC chief is expected to beat the crisis.
If there is no strong leadership, then there are high chances of Congress gets collapsed. The AICC Chief position is not a small position that comes with a lot of responsibility.
The question here is can the new All India Congress Committee(AICC) chief help the party come out of the crisis and will the party gets revived has to be seen. The party with such a long history unable to take on BJP is not a small thing and the issue should be addressed soon.
