In a shocking turn of events, a veteran son who sang songs across the language and earned a massive fan following was slapped with a jail term of two years in connection with an old case that traces back to around a decade. His petition was rejected and the court ordered a jail term.

Punjabi singer Daler Singh Mehndi, who has a peculiar voice and shot to fame with it accused of cheating people on the pretext of taking people abroad and leaving them midway was sent to jail custody for no less than two years. A case in connection with this was filed back in 2013.

Daler Mehndi, his brother, and a few others made a deal with two groups to take them to Canada. However, they were not taken to Canada. The trial has been going on for around nine years and during the trial period, a few accused passed away and now the singer was sent to custody.

Canada is the preferred destination of Punjab is and the nation already has a good amount of Punjabi population and the population is expected to increase in a few more days. The population has reached a point where the government gives importance to the interests of Punjabis.

It has to be mentioned here that, when the farmers from Punjab hit the roads to protest against the controversial agricultural bills, the MPs in Canada openly extended their support to the farmers from Punjab.

While the majority of Punjabis fly to Canada, a few try to reach there through illegal means. In many instances, a few of them were caught at the border. It appears like Daler Mehndi and others might have thought to bank on the interest of people. But it backfired and the singer was sent to jail. Daler Mehndi is expected to challenge the same in a higher court.

It is a big shock that the singer who earned respect and fans by giving his vocals all these years was found guilty and sent to jail custody for two years. His colleagues and fellow singers in the industry are yet to respond.
