Centre Slowly Making AP Lose Hope on Railway Zone?

Its been more than eight years since the combined state was divided into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Even years after the state bifurcation, there are a few unsettled issues that need to be addressed. Both states are saying that the other state owes them money.

To look into the unsettled issues, the Home Secretary called for a key meeting. The senior officials from both states were invited to the meeting. The motto behind the meeting is to look into the unaddressed matters assured by the AP Reorganisation Act 2014.

The officials from Andhra Pradesh reportedly faced a big shock as they are believed to have been told that there will be no Railway zone for the shore city Vizag as mentioned earlier. At the meeting, the officials were informed about the same reportedly.

If the same news is true, then it is a big blow for the state which has been eagerly waiting for the railway zone to come. Not just the YSRCP government, but even the previous Telugu Desam Party also fought for the demand but in vain. In the current government, the members are not raising their voices aggressively.

At regular intervals, the union government has been saying that the railway zone cannot be granted citing various reasons. The main reason is that, if the railway zone is granted to Vizag then Odisha will have to face severe losses. A few years back. The Waltair division was split and the major share of revenues go to Odisha. If Vizag gets a dedicated zone then it will impact Odisha.
