CJI's Decision Continues Suspense On Amaravati Row!

We have to wait some more time on the Three capitals row in Andhra Pradesh as the Chief Justice Of India U U Lalit decided to rescue himself from hearing the petition. The issue now stays with the Supreme Court till the petition is allotted to another bench of the Apex Court. No one knows when the issue can be allotted and we should wait and see.
It is known that the Andhra Pradesh government led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is very strong on the decision to go for three capitals. Earlier, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh made it clear that the capital city should come in Amaravati and directed the government to hand over the developed flats to the farmers.
The AP government took an expected decision and moved the Supreme Court with a Special Leave Petition challenging the High Court's verdict. The petition landed before the three-judge bench led by Chief Justice Of India U U Lalit today. But the CJI decided not to hear the petition.
Surprisingly, this is not the first time Lalith decided to not hear the petition related to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. A couple of years back, Lalith rescued himself from hearing a petition which was filed against Jagan Mohan Reddy. However, Lalit was just a justice back then.
It has to be mentioned here that Lalit earlier represented YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in his inappropriate assets case and this might be the reason behind his decision to not hear cases that are related to the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
If the petition gets a positive verdict then the opposition parties might target the verdict saying that the old connections might have worked for the Chief Minister. Predicting this the Chief Justice might have decided to not hear the petition.
When NV Ramana was the Chief Justice of India Jagan always dubbed the anti-verdicts as a conspiracy. Alleging that Ramana would give such a verdict he had written to the Supreme Court Collegium asking the body to not make Ramana the Chief Justice of India. The opposition might do the same in the other way.
