Collectors, consorts vie for CM's blessings

Usually, the district collectors turn up in their best attire whenever a VIP, especially the powers that be, come on a visit. In fact, that is the protocol decided for them. In fact, collectors were chided when they came to meet the VVIPs in informal dresses. But, in Telangana state, a new unofficial protocol is in place. The collectors are coming with their family members are seeking the blessings of Chief Minister KCR.
This new trend is catching up and more and more collectors are coming to meet KCR in official programmes along with their respective consorts. They appear to be quite eager to get clicked with the chief minister. The trend was started by former Siddipet collector Venkatram Reddy. He soon left the post and was rewarded with an MLC post.
The same trend was seen in Rangareddy district, when the district collector came along with his wife and sought KCR's blessings. The other day, the same scene was repeated in Nizamabad. When KCR went to Nizamabad to inaugurate the integrated collectorate building complex, district collector Narayana Reddy was accompanied by his wife. Both were seen quite eager to get photographed with the chief minister.
Interestingly the collector couple participated in the gruha pravesam rituals together. Many wondered whether they were performing poojas for the collectorate complex or for their family residence. There is an increasing feeling that the collectors want a political role post their administrative responsibilities and hence are trying to get pally with the Chief Minister.
