Congress emerges as the decider in Munugode bypoll

Who decides who wins and who loses in Munugode byelections? Ask both the TRS and the BJP cadres. They say in unison. It's the Congress that decides the winner in the bypoll. If the Congress Party manages to garner more votes, then the ruling TRS will stand a better chance of winning the election. If the Congress comes a cropper, the BJP is sure to romp home.
The TRS is more worried about the Bahujan Samaj Party and a non-descript party called Yuga Tulasi Party, which has got the road roller symbol this time. If the BJP gets some 5000 votes and if the road roller gets more votes, they will only eat into the TRS votes. Dalits are otherwise diehard voters of the TRS and BSP might play spoil-sport by dividing Dalit votes. Similarly, the votes intended for TRS may go to the road roller.
But, the real problem is the Congress. The TRS wants the Congress to get more votes. In several places, the TRS leaders are said to be pushing the Congress to work harder so that the party would get more votes. The BJP is trying to get as many Congress votes as possible for the BJP candidate. If the Congress votes shift to the BJP, the latter will have a better chance of winning.
It may be recalled that the same thing has worked for the BJP in both Dubbak and Huzurabad. In Dubbak, the TRS cadres had actually campaigned for the Congress so that it could get at least 10000 votes. But, the Congress failed and the BJP won. In Huzurabad, the Congress campaign could not pick ace and the anti-TRS and pro-Congress votes shifted to the BJP. Will the same story repeat in Munugode?
