Karnataka Polls: Congress To Get More Seats Than BJP?
By: Tupaki Desk | 14 April 2023 4:18 PM ISTThe opinion polls are to be watched out for during the election time. The surveys serve as a platform to know what the public thinks about the political parties' poll-bound states. In many instances, the surveys predict the outcomes with a cent percent accuracy. The parties also use surveys for the campiagn.
Karnataka is going to see the general elections in a few weeks and everyone wants to know which party would win the polls. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, the opposition Congress Party and the Janata Dal (Secular) are in the ballot box fight and the election episode is going to be a tough one.
The popular Sri Atmasakshi Group conducted a survey on the elections. The survey results say that the opposition Indian National Congress might win between 110 to 118 seats in the polls while the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party would win between 85-93 seats. The Janata Dal (Secular) would win between 25 to 32 seats. The detailed opinion poll would be out in three days.
The magic figure to come to power in Karnataka is 113. The survey predicts that Congress can get close to the mark or even go past it. If Congress goes close to the mark, the required MLAs would join the party from others or it might take teh support of the JDS.
The BJP is facing many allegations of corruption. Contractors openly attacked the government that they have to pay around 40 percent as commission. They also asked how they can do business by paying so much money. This also gave a big reason for the opposition parties to target the government. Changing the Chief Minister also did not make any difference.
The Congress party has been banking heavily on minorities. When the BJP said that the reservations for Muslims would be given to Lingayats and Vokkaligas, Congress said that it would reverse the decision. The anti-incumbency of the BJP might also work for Congress.
The less popularity of the Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai might also be the reason behind this. Many leaders were denied tickets for the elections are they are either leaving the party or started attacking the party. All these factors have to be considered.
