Cricket Not Considered For 2028 Olympics!

Cricket is one of the most favorites and followed games in not only but across the world. Despite the reception the players get in India being quite high, fans in other countries also follow the game. Fans across the globe pinned high hopes that Cricket will be included in the prestigious Olympic for the 2028 edition.
Pouring water on the hopes of the fans to see the Gentleman's game in the prestigious event, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had excluded four games including Cricket from the provisional list of games for the Los Angeles edition of Olympics which will be held in 2028.
The demand to include Cricket in the Olympics tournament got momentum when the world governing body of cricket International Cricket Council(ICC) had focused on making efforts to include Cricket in the event. As a shot in the arm, the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) had also shown its interest in including the game. However, the body said a 10-ver format would be played at the tournament.
All these factors gave a big hype that Cricket would be added to the 2028 Olympics. However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that picks the sports for the tournament did not consider cricket for the tournament. We have to wait and see how the ICC and BCCI will react to the same.
Cricket made its entry to the prestigious tournament three decades back in the 1990 edition of the Paris Games. However, the game was not included in any of the games over the years. Earlier in August this year, the ICC hinted about including the game in the 2028 Olympic games.
Besides Cricket, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) also excluded weightlifting and modern pentathlon from the Los Angeles Olympic games. The final list of the games which have made it to the provisional list would be submitted in February next year.
While preparing the list of the games that would be played at the tournament will be picked on the grounds of various aspects like the popularity of the game and the cost involved in playing the sport and the relevance it will have as far as the youth is concerned.
