Direct Release On Fiber Net, Will This Work?

The Andhra Pradesh government has been making efforts to attract the Tollywood industry towards it after the state bifurcation. The Telugu cinema is settled in Hyderabad completely. So the industry can't look at AP. Not just the physical gap, other gaps also erupted between Tollywood and AP.

Keeping the issue aside, a new plan was announced to directly release the films through the AP State Fiber Net. Instead of releasing in theatres, films will be released on Fiber Net. But there is doubt on whether this is possible or not.

At an event in Hyderabad, a unique program was started to directly release the movie through the AP state fiber net. The decision was announced by Gautam Reddy, Chairman of AP state fiber net limited, AP Film Development Corporation Chairman Posani Krishna Murali, Media Advisor Ali, and famous producer C. Kalyan.

They said that the AP Fiber Net aims to provide entertainment to middle-class and poor people in AP. The move aims at providing an opportunity for common people who cannot go to theatres and spent big money. It is also said that small producers who cannot release films would also get a benefit.

However, there are a few questions here. Because the producers want to release their films in theatres. Distributors and exhibitors also have a similar opinion. A big system is involved in releasing a film. A debate is going on about why they will accept if films get released on Fibernet directly.

On the other hand, films be they big or small sign agreements with OTTs one month after the theatrical release. This is serving as additional income for the producers. It is a big question if producers will release pictures on Fiber Net leaving the good facility.

People like Posani Krishna Murali are arguing that Megastar Chiranjeevi's film should also be released on Fiber Net. But popular producer C. Kalyan is talking via media. He is saying that it will be good if small films would be released through Fiber Net.

Films that won't get OTT deals and do not get theatres might prefer the Fiber Net. But another question is whether people would prefer watching films that are ignored by OTTs and theatres. TV channels are giving enough entertainment. In the name of movies, content-less films are releasing. People won't watch such films.

Though no one knows who pitched the idea, the film circles say that the idea might not work.
