The Election Commission recently carried out raids on the political parties which are not functioning but receiving funds in big numbers. The raids reportedly found that the founders of the political funds are misusing the funds. A few parties are being run from a small place. Hundreds of crores were received as donations by the parties as per the information.

Days after the raids, the Election Commission shocked many parties by categorizing many parties as inactive. More than 200 parties were declared inactive by the Election Commission of India. Going by the information shared by the Election Commissions in the states, the parties were labeled inactive.

Listing out the political parties which are not active and not even contesting the polls, the EC labeled many parties as inactive and also canceled their election symbols. In Telangana alone, as many as 20 parties were recognized as inactive. Noted Evangelist K.A Paul who made tall claims that he would set up a government also suffered a big shock. The EC canceled the party symbol of the Prajashanti Party.

It is known that the Election Commission has been dealing with the non-compliant RUPPs with an iron fist. Since 2022 May 25, the top election body has been cracking down on such parties. As a new development, the Election Commission of India (ECI) delisted as many as 86 non-existent Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPPs).

Across the nation, around 253 parties were declared as inactive Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPPs). The data says, as of now, 537 defaulting RUPPs have been declared by the Election body.

For delisting the parties and entities, the Election Commission cited various reasons like not contesting the polls and not having the required percentage of votes to enjoy the active status.

As per the guidelines, the party has to run the polls within five years of getting registered. After five years too, the parties have to run the polls. The Election Commission will delist the parties which won't take part in the polls for six years. The list of parties that are delisted was made as per the details mentioned by state Election Commissioners.
