Former Skipper Blasts Ganguly Over ODI Captaincy Saga!

The Sourav Ganguly-Virat Kohli saga is getting murkier with the duo making contrasting comments in the captaincy issue. Indian cricket fans are in a state of confusion as they are unable to decide whom to believe in the issue and whom to support in the infamous issue. Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) chief Sourav Ganguly is facing severe criticism on the issue.

Joining the list of critics of Dada Ganguly, legendary Indian player Dilip Vengsarkar slammed Sourav Ganguly over the issue and asked why he spoke on the behalf of the national selectors over the much-talked-about ODI issue.

Putting his thoughts on the controversy, Dilip Vengsarkar felt that Sourav Ganguly should have not spoken on the issue on the behalf of the National selectors, and instead, he should have made the selectors address the press on the issue so that the controversy won't arise.

As per the News Agency Press Trust of India(PTI), the former Indian skipper Dilip Vengsarkar opined that it is not fair on Sourav Ganguly to address the issue on the behalf of the selectors. He felt that selection committee chairman Chetan Sharma would have spoken about the issue.

The ace player also said that it's the call of the selection committee to either select or remove a player as a skipper and it would be appropriate if the members of the selection committee should have disclosed the decision instead of Sourav Ganguly as the issue doesn't come under his jurisdiction.

With a disappointing tone, the legendary player said that the practice of removing the Indian skippers unceremoniously should be changed. Virat has done so much for Indian cricket and for that he deserves a better send-off. Look at how Virat Kohli was removed as the skipper, he added.

The controversy aroused when Virat Kohli countered Sourav Ganguly's comments at a press meet. Virat Kohli said that he was not informed prior on the ODI captaincy issue and he got to know about this just one and a half hours before the team that travels to South Africa was fixed. The cricketing world was stunned by the press meet.
